I think of myself as an experimental, expressive papermaker. Constantly trying new fibers, new inclusions, and new techniques, I have built up a pulp vocabulary of my own over the past decade. Part of this is due to necessary limitations: in 2017, I was very lucky to find a used Reina Hollander beater, but I had none of the other necessary equipment. I didn’t even have a studio! So, working in my apartment and at various residencies, I began to expand on a string grid technique that my mentor had taught me. Later I was able to get a press, a dry box and a studio, but I still work with the limitations of a studio without water. These galleries show examples of the work that comes from my experimental paper studio.
